We started our Winter fly tying program yesterday. For those who don't know it, may of us have programs that are current and continue all year. Ours re-started the fly tying portion again just yesterday.
I think it is important for all of us to realize how informative we are to others. We have a 16 year old who is almost a 1:1 instructor to many novice adults. I just can't explain how enthusiastic I get watching "kids" help grown men, and how "grown men" accept the offerings and help of "kids". Our lives are improved greatly when these groups cross in their daily lives. Maybe that is what keeps me going.
I have turned the "basic" level over to a very competent gentleman who desperately needs more responsibility in his life since the passing of his wife, just a few short months ago. I am now involved in a more advanced section of the group.
Selecting "advanced" is a very interesting thing. Often, a person is advanced in one portion of a curriculum, but a novice in another. It is very important that these individuals (in this case, a retired admiral) end up understanding that they are capable of advanced hand-eye coordination in one area, but may need time and help getting to the same level in something else.
Time heals all wounds I guess, even those that I cause.
