Catskill

Catskill Junky
Hello everyone. A fishing report for the Delaware, Beaverkill, and Willow.

First the temp as of right now is 55 and should move into the mid - upper 60's by this afternoon.

The Beaverkill and Willow are both running very nice though a little high. We had much rain up here on Friday that brought the rivers up and stained them considerably. Fishing on Saturday was pretty much a dead thought. Yesterday the rivers started to clear up nicely but the wind was terrible for fishing. With any hope today the rivers will have receded a little bit more and the wind will be unheard of! This remains to be seen.

The E. Branch and the W. Branch are doing well. The Mainstem is still not wadable. Give it a few more days.

If you're coming up anytime soon be sure to have with you some Grey, Black, and tan caddis, small olives (for in the morning), Grey foxes, March browns are still around, spinners (Mahogany and Rusty), sulphers, an assortment of terrestrials, light cahills, and Isonychia's have been popping up too.

I also recommend picking up some large stonefly nymphs. Yellow stone nymphs have been very productive lately and the big fish love them. If fishing these, make sure you're using nothing smaller than 5x preferrably 3x -4x. These big fish will surely snap your 6x+ tippets.

Rain is expected for tomorrow through Thursday. All of this rain should make the warmer weather fishing much more pleasurable. This weekend is supposed to be nice. If the rain ends on Thursday there should be excellent fishing for this coming weekend.
