Well I fished for the first time over the Cicada hatch and I have to say it is amazing ! Every fish in the stream was on them even tiny brook trout . anyone that says trout don't key on them is nut's. Just tye on your favorite pattern and slam it down on the waters surface and watch the fish come rushing to get it! I was so busy catching fish I never took a picture other than the Cicadas . Going back later this week and I will have fish pics it was an awesome day of fly fishing with a giant fly that trout just love to eat ! If you are wondering what fly I used check out the fly TricoMike posted it works fine . Thanks for posting it Mike.

Bhc, they are singing already at 630 am. Gonna suit up and head down. I will get a few pics today. Thanks to you and the other Neff member who turned me on to were they were, it has been hard to locate a stream that had them. Don't forget to check put that other place!

I saw them all over the place driving up the NYS Thruway and in the area around Hudson, NY this weekend. Didn't have time to fish but I managed to splatter a lot of them on my windshield!

OK, give me a NJ or PA stream where I can have a shot at fishing the cicada hatch. I'd like to see if the trout key in on them or not.

There were lots in the trees below Point Mountain TCA on the Musky a week and a half ago when I was doing some surveying. They may be falling to the water by now. There were none on the water that day, but they were just hatching. I still haven't had a single one near my house this year, but we ran into them driving down the GSP on Saturday around Edison and further south. Big, nasty splatters all over my wife's windshield and we could hear them outside as she barreled down the Parkway:crap:

At lunch time the fishing is insane. It is amazing to have this many fish come up for a giant fly. I probably have well over 60 by now and missed half as many. I only wish the fish in this creek were bigger.IMAG0098.jpgIMAG0101.jpgIMAG0102.jpg

Im trying to find your cicada fly on this board. stop pretending you are looking at flies on the barking dog pool with your binos and make yourself useful

A little video would be nice too, as well as a picture of that fly. And where in PA are these streams? GPS coordinates are now socially acceptable now btw.

WTF i just went to walmart and they dont have any cicada flies.

they did have a rebel cicada lure. Can i use that with my 6'8" 10 wt small stream setup?

I posted the fly awhile back on a thread someone put up about cicadas. If. I get a chance I will put one up tomorrow, all my flies are too torn up I have to tie more. Trout Nazi , knowone ever said I was fishing pa,hint.

Cicada Fly patter might be a good way to get my dry fly skills up huh? i've mostly been fishing streamers.

Any luck with cicadas near point mountain or anywhere along the musconectcong/south branch?

I picked up a few cicada patterns and I'd love to give them a shot, but I don't really know where to go.

Stream temps are a bit too high right now, but the cicadas are highly spotty in where they have hatched this year. I haven't seen or heard a single one near my home, but ran into some in other locations. Haven't seen any on the water either, but I know many others that have and who have had good action with these big bugs.

Screw using flies - use the real ones! They are past peak in Central NJ but are fairly active throughout the poconos. I've seen them in Monroe, Carbon, Northampton and Schuylkill Counties yesterday and last weekend.

That would seem to defeat the purpose of our 'sport'

I am looking very forward to fishing the Cicada hatch of 2030, who wants to meet up?
