We've been going that way since 911. My policy when dealing with the law is to keep my mouth shut beyond name, rank ,and serial#. I can't really say if it works or not but it seems like a reaosnable strategy for keeping my rights in tact.

CT,

Have faith - this once great nation that you fought for (thanks again, BTW!!!) is slowly waking up to the wrong direction we're taking recently. I firmly believe that the pendulum will swing back in the "right" direction soon! It's just frustrating that it's taking so long...

The pendulum swung in one direction for several years and it is now swinging in the other direction. I would say that no matter what way the pendulum has been swinging our rights have been eroding for many many moons. When it swings one way we loose freedom of speech, privacy, due process, and separation of powers. When it swings the other way gun ownership is scrutinized, and we get a bit more of a nanny state....you know what, they are all the f%^&#! same.

I wonder how Thomas Jefferson would view the state of our inalienable rights.

The patriot act is just a fine example of what we don't need. I am in the military to defend OUR constitution. I hate how most politicians thinks they can just wipe their arse with it.

Why would you come on the "Government and Fishing" forum if you didn't want to read a post b*tching about the government? I'm just curious. Did you think it was a hoax and we really post nude girly pix? :)

I have no problem with "Gov't AND Fishing" but wtf does this have to do with fishing?

Acceptable: Global warming is fake, therefore trout will be ok

Unacceptable: Obama is taking my guns away

One is related to fly fishing, one is not.

I thought this was a fly fishing forum.

Look at the Jokes forum. That is not limited to fishing jokes only. DC has given us lots of fishing forums to more than meet the needs of fly fishermen anywhere in the country let alone in NJ or the northeast. So we have one forum where we can gripe about politics. Most of us know each other well enough through this forum that we feel comfortable spewing about this or that as it affects our lives and this (Politics and Fishing) is as good a place as any. Some of us feel we could make a direct correlation between the current Congress and Administration's policies and our future ability to go fishing, so I think it fits just fine. GST has far fewer forums yet you see posts like this all the time over there as well. Same for other fishing sites...

Pump your Brakes WDM. You dont like what you read you are free to hit the ignore button....The whole Obama is taking my guns away is not what was stated and the post came from an article so not sure why you have a problem. There are clearly many posts that go off on a tangent. You would think a guy that spent some time over in the desert would not have to take fire from the likes of you over a simple post. Then you want to provide some guidelines on what is acceptable and what is not acceptable. Are you the new Forum CZAR? Have you passed your background check yet? Hope you havent cheated on your taxes!!!

Just to make you happy here is a fishing report. I fished the brodheads last night with BHC ( thanks Allen). I did not catch a fish. I had one LDR and a few takes. I scared most of them away because I could not wade without tripping every 2 feet. I destroyed at leat 3 of Allen's slate drakes!!! I had a great time...Now go to your happy place and have a coke and a smile and give it a rest!!!!

If we have it on the Flatbrook within the next couple weeks it will still be cool enough to fish.
