A couple of years ago I bought an Eagle Claw fly rod on special at Walmart in Mansfield for $9. Those Eagle Claw rods aren't the greatest - but $9 is way cheap. Even though they are pretty tippy and don't have enough guides, plenty of people got their start with an Eagle Claw fly rod and seemed to have survived.
