It was not a smooth trip driving up to the river yesterday. First I had to navigate the Route 80 closure, which actually wasn't too bad yesterday morning at 7:30 am. I took a chance and stayed on 80 to the Route 15 detour and I only lost about three minutes as I managed to make it through the two detour traffic lights in only one change. The next obstacle was a tire that ran across all lanes of traffic from a guy who was changing his tire on the backside of Allamuchy mountain. And then there was the fog atop Mt. Pocono that was still present on my trip home at 2:30 pm.
Now for the fishing report:
The water temperature was 51 degrees. There were little black stones on the rocks, some small caddis coming off and a good number of small olives with no fish rising. However quite a few of the fish caught took a size 18 silver bead head baetis on the dropper which was high in the water column.
I finished up with thirteen fish from 14-20 inches. In one of the pictures you can see where the fish did battle, probably with the resident band of mergansers. I guess it was a little too big for them to actually eat it.
