Just finished a River Runs Through it!
Heading there tomorrow with a buddy of mine. Anyone heading out? If so, let me know or PM me and we can catch up. Have a good weekend. Go Giants by the way!!!

I may go on Sunday. I know th water is up a little again. Let me know how it is. I think Shaffer bridge should be ok but below LFB will be fast.

Just got back from the BFB. Water was a little high but clear. Started in the FFO section and got skunked. Decided to try some new water way down river where the Flatbrook dumps into the Delaware. Managed to have one come up and take a swipe at a woolybugger. Missed it. Beautiful water and some nice deep pools right off 615. Overall, had a great day on the water. I heard the river got torched this past week form other guys out there. What are your thoughts about people killing fish on that river? Do most people practice C&R? Thanks in advance and good luck.

From June 1st to About three weeks before opening day, NJ general regulations alow for the creeling of 4 trout per day over 7 inchs.

I dont like trout , but I do like tuna fish and striped bass,to name a few, and have creeled my fair share of those species.

I try and remember that everytime I want to get preachy about people not catching and releasing, what if I could keep 4 fish I like as much as Tuna, with a lot less time $ and effort to catch them, would I do it?

With that said, I like catching them period, so for strictly selfish reasons I wish all of NJ was no kill from October 15 - Opening day.

With the exception of the first 10 days or so of the season when most of the FFO is open to all tackle, many of the people practice C&R in this stretch of water. Below the FFO down to the Delaware it is a mixed bag, and during the stocking season most people I have seen in this area are looking to keep their limit of trout. There are exceptions and some of thim frequent this forum.

The BFB FFO does have a poaching problem due to the fact that it is out of the way. I have typically seen it first hand or found bait containers, etc during the early summer and early fall, and most of it occurs at night.

C&R is voluntary on the BFB, but I would like to see some of the upper areas regulated more tightly to allow more holdovers and to protect the native brook trout population.

Here are some pics from a few weeks ago. All fish caught and released. P.S Anyone know what could have taken the chunk out of my buddies brook trout? Looks like a bird or something. Very weird. Enjoy some fish porn.

Yea, that's how I mark my fish.

I see you guys were fishing the petting zoo.

Thanks for the porn,

Looks like a lamprey got a hold of your trout.

my guess would be a blue heron.

It looks like talon marks to me, possibly from an osprey. Going by my observations, herons usually strike only once with their bills and cause one circular wound.

No matter how many styro worm containers in the FFO section there are always some fish in "the g pit".

Right CDOG?

I've never seen that hole fishless. Never!

And never a time when I don't jump out my waders when a muzzleloader goes off.

Yeah, even if I try to "get ready" for a shot, I still get a good shot of adrenaline during every shot.

That hole should be renamed "Adrenal Failure Run"

Well made it out today in the brutal cold. It was 13 degrees this morning. No wind chill which was a blessing. Tried a few spots with my buddy first thing and nada. Used a PT and HE and nothing doing. Tried fishing the deeper slower pools where the fish should be holding this time of year. Decided to move upstream and before you know it I hooked a decent brown while fishing a streamer. Half hour later and I hooked this brookie on the dead drift with the same streamer. Put up a great fight on my 3 weight. All in all it was a great day- a few fish and no one around. Not even the hunters. Enjoy some fish porn. All fish caught and released unharmed.

I hooked about a dozen fish lost about half of them. not to many people out their today. If you go bring some ice off or vasoline for your guides. I was their untill about 12 when i dropped my reel in the water and it froze. Goodluck and tight lines.

FB5,

Thanks for the report. I haven't been to the BFB in 2 weeks and it;s starting to call to me.

Are you refering to the secret big rock? Shhhhhh... Nobody here knows about that rock and the secret pool it's in.

Cdog

Has anyone been to the mud hole lately? If you know what im talking about then and you have been their since the month then you will see the very large tree that now sits at the top of the hole. It extends to the right bank about 30ft. Its goin to be interesting on how the fish hold against it for the upcoming dry fly season.

Well made it out to the BFB on Sat. Weather said it was going to be nice. Didnt feel nice to me. It was cold and cloudy. Anyway we fished the FFO section and before 12noon we hooked and landed three fish. Two browns and a brookie. All between 10-12inch. After that nada. All in all it was great to be out. Saw a few other guys on the river as well. And I thought we would have it to ourselves. Who am I kidding. Anyway, I have to say that fishing in the winter has been more than gratifying. May not hook as many fish but I would rather catch 3 fish all day with no one around than catch 20 and fight the crowds . All fish caught and released unharmed. Enjoy the fish pics. GO GIANTS

Nice net! I owe u apology!

No ones balls have been busted onthis site more than mine for posting measurements of fish and dis believers.

Thats why I have two of those nets, A big one and and even bigger one for the drift boat!

By the way, I never post length of fish anymore, I just tell my friends than they call me a liar!
