In spite of many issues leading up to the event, the BASH still went down. I'm not sure exactly what defines a "BASH" but for the 4-5 of us there it was a good time.
I get a text from Simms on Wed. morning saying he can't make it. Sue at Cannon's was really cool about taking care of us and consolidated our group into the apartment. We had plenty of room and were hooked up for the long weekend...
Beeber picked me up at my house Thursday night...his car was packed to the gills.
FlyI4/JC met us in the early am on Friday. We were able to find some room around Ellis but the fishing was slow.
With no real morning bite, we decided to move around.
Twism spotting
Settled in for lunch and a few beers to warm up...oh yea it was pretty cold out!
My buddy who was up earlier in the week was killing it in the lower river...we headed down low for some evening action but it was slow again...
JC is a high sticking maniac and got several hookup's throughout the day (this is an ongoing trend). Beeber hooked a handful and I only managed a couple quick head shakes...
Headed back to the pad...JC set the vise up. He's got a funky tying style, I wasn't used to seeing a lefty tie but also wrapping toward yourself...the steelies didn't mind though
Troutguy shows up later on Friday night...
Eggs for breakfast
We decided to float on Saturday to hopefully get away from the crowds. We floated through a bunch of popular spots that were packed with people. The other areas didn't produce well (better with more water, in my experience) so it was a kind of a waste of time. My pics from that day didn't seem to upload so this'll have to do...
TG has a cool, 2 man driftboat...the boat launch is optional btw
Day 3 we had to assemble the troops for combat...and lock down a run early. It wasn't a stellar morning but we got into some action...
Beeber taking a break after some long days..
Damn it feels good to be a gangsta
Zombies lurkin
JC is machine...I'm pretty sure I caught him comtemplating sleeping in his waders...it was good to have a motivator though. If you slacked off your chances were slim in these conditions.
Lynch arrived Saturday night...fished the DSR on Sunday which was slow as well. Flies were tied, beer and scotch was flowing..Stefano's has bangin chicken parms...
D'angler also stopped by for a few to talk shop....we were going to join in the fire ring but everyone started passing out shortly thereafter...we'll have to catch up again man.
The final day we locked down another popular spot and it paid off...lots of action for all and many fish landed...
All in all a good trip...can't wait to get back up there...
