Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

4.26.2019 - Wade fishing

I arrived at the Shehawken boat ramp around 3:30pm or so. The water was a bit high but not off color. It was perfect! I saw no bugs so figured no dry fly action so I put on a big yellow articulated streamer and started pounding the banks. 15 minutes and figured I'd wrap it up before I went to my photoshoot.

One more cast... lol... I noticed out of the corner of my eye, downstream about 100 feet or so, I small splash so I watched for a minute then ran to my car to change rods. I was pretty excited to see some fish taking bugs off the top (At this point I could see the paraleps and an occasional Hendrickson).

I got the other rod rigged up with a hendrickson emerger (because my eyes aren't what they used to be so the paraleps were out of question). I ran back to the river and for the next hour had a blast catching browns 12" - 15". Unfortunately, I had to leave for the FUDR extravaganza (always a blast). So, I wrap it up. Now I'm probably 50 yards or so from where I parked but I can't see my car because of all the brush but as I get closer I notice my front passenger door wide open! I was so excited to get back to the river that I left it open with my life of fly fishing gear and ALL of my photography equipment.

Now who can guess what happens next?

I can guess....all the stuff was there but your peanut butter and jelly sandwich was missing.

Nothing was stolen because God was watching over you

We ran into blue quills and a few Hendricksons as we cruised under the Hale Eddy bridge and I landed my first WB dry fly brown of the season within 100 yards of the bridge. My buddy landed another just above the riffle at WB Angler. We had heads poking up the rest of the way although not in huge numbers. But the fish rising were rising to bugs regularly and not the old one and done risers. We took out at Balls and had put in up in Stilesville. I bet the hendos are popping today up there. All the spinners we saw were paraleps, so my guess is the Hendricksons were just starting that day although Matt at WBA said they also popped on Thursday some.

Dennis,

Even the crystal-meth heads cruising the trout stream parking lots looking for stuff would never approach even a yuppy BMW SUV with the door open. Under those circumstances the fisherman would be expected to be in the bushes close by taking a leak. Too risky.
