Yesterday was an excellent day to be on the water.

I fished Van Campen's brook.

And I parked at the Upper Glen.

I really like the water in that section quite a bit.

And I just sort of hiked in...

And stopped at a nice deep pool.

With still water. Almost like a little pond area within the brook.

The stump end of a felled tree sat right in the middle of the water. Kind of weird. As if it eroded into the stream. And then collapsed.

Right by the roots of the stump I saw a rise. And then this fish kept on rising. And rising.

He wasn't such an easy target though.

I walked around quietly, at a considerable distance from the bank of the brook.

And ultimately decided to take a casting position on the other side of the fish.

My presentation, technically, was a downstream presentation.

Ok. So you should all re-read the post from earlier this afternoon.

Where was I?

OH YES!

I was stalking the savage beast!

The giant LEVIATHAN that was sipping for midges...

Yes...

And so I decided that the best approach was from the other side of the brook.

So I retraced my steps about 30 to 40 yards backward...

Found a shallow stretch of water.... Crossed the stream...

And headed back upstream, to a spot about 40 feet from the rising fish.

He was sipping at midges.

It was a beautiful sight!

Especially on a cold, winter's day.

Cold, as in, say, 42 degrees.

And I began casting to him.

A few weeks earlier, a guy named Chuck gave me an interesting looking fly.

A caddis. With some bright fluorescent green shit tied in to the body.

It was really interesting.

And I had it.

But I didn't have it tied on.

Instead I began by fishing a BWO.

And it didn't work.

Nope.

So I tied on the caddis.

This gift. That was given to me near India Brook a few days earlier.

Did I mention that this fish was a GIANT?

A LEVIATHAN?

A MONSTER OF THE DEEP?

If I didn't, you need to know that he was.

And I was after him with a dry fly.

In the dead of winter.

Could I land him?

Who the fuck knew.

But I was gonna try.

So I cast my caddis over the MONSTER.

And BAM!

The rest was history!

I landed him.

Placed him in some dry weeds, on the banks of the brook...

And shot this picture...

LMFAO! I literally just fell outta my chair! hahaahahahahaah John, this was fucken great! hahahahahahahahahahaha

This is most certainly top 3 funniest things I have ever read here on NEFF...holy shit haha

GB, my name is Chuck, and I gave a Missing Link Caddis to a guy in the parking lot last week. Also showed him my Tenkara rod. That was you?

If that was my fly, then it usually doesn't catch trout that big. You sir are a master.
