Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!
imo the TCA rules r much better even though they allow spin fishing, the fact that there is no break in the regs is huge. the flatbrook gets destroyed for those first 10 days.
half the state will be there with their spin gear and worms and power bait like every year for the first week of the season. good time to take a walk in the upper sections to find some peace and quiet. hopefully the rain will keep most of them at home.
great presentation, i read a lot of material about all aspects of fly fishing and i don't think i've ever gotten so much good information in such a short time. And just so Ober doesn't feel like the complete junior of the group, my friend and i were there and we are both 25 so theres a few of...
i can't remember the name of the speaker, but i know that one of the presentations is about the SBR and should be pretty interesting. i'm looking forward to going. i believe its the first of the two presentations also.

Trial and error pretty much every time. Keep trying different depths until you find them. The only definite is that in really cold water you gotta get it on the bottom. I always start at the bottom and work my way up in the water column.
Thanx for the info. I think the plan for saturday with the guide is to do just that. We will be in a boat, but from what i was told the guide will probably bring us close to the mouth of the river for lakers and salmon.
You'd be suprised where u can find trout. There is a small stream by my house that i would never think to fish for anything let alone trout. But apparently years back private stocking occured or something to that effect and either fish reproduced or there are still some left which i find hard...
I was under the impression that the area between the resevoirs had very limited access. I have always wanted to fish up there, but never really knew where i could get into the river.
As much as i would love to wait a few weeks i can't, i booked this trip about 3 months ago not anticipating the miserable weather. I talked to the place that we r staying and they said the snow and ice is gone and this past week was close to 80 for a couple days. I will be fishing the rivers...
