winter fishing gloves

WBDluver

Official NEFF pot stirrer
Has anyone found a good pair of gloves for winter steelhead fishing. Ones that have good feeling and dexterity but also keep you warm?

Wind River Converta Mitts with Windstopper, roomy enough to add another pair of Windstopper fingerless pair inside when it gets down right cold. We are talking 30 and lower or very breezy/windy day.
I tried Simms and gave them away did not fit my hands well at all I wear XL and the Simms Winstopper fingerless and mitts were on the small side...that is a no no when you are outside in the cold, never cut off your circulation or the surgeon may well cut off your digits.
I also use a pair of 100% wool fingerless flip over mitts too if it stays above the twenties an there is no wind.

I have some new neoprene gloves with the fingers that folds back....I am going to try them this winter....I don't know if they are good yet, but my friend says they work great..they were like $15.00 from Effingers...

I could have used them Monday, but left them home....

I also use the converta mitts and they work well. Also, place a chemical handwarmer over the veins on top of your hand, a guide told me this a while ago and it seems to work.

I used a pair of neoprene gloves last weekend on the BK and damn near got frostbite. Once they got wet they were worse.

I think I'm going for wool next.

For you, Dluver, you should wear a pair of foam fingers, like Miley Cyrus at the VMA's.

And then you can start twerking in the DSR, when you ain't catching any fish.

That'll help keep your ass warm, if you know what I mean.

I have tried neoprene; they don’t breathe your hands become clammy and cold. I have used wool there ok but I usually get a fly caught in them. I the conclusion that I came up with is, forgo the gloves. I bought a good Zippo lighter fluid hand warmer and tucked it in my wader pocket. It will keep going all day. It is just enough to take the chill off you hands at least for a bit.

I dont wear gloves for winter fishing. I just keep hand warmers in my wader pocket and i also on really cold days will place warmers in the cuff of my sleeve, so the they are pressed against my wrists. It helps but for the first couple of hours it doesnt matter what you got. Then its like your hands just get used to the temps and arent cold any longer. Well at least for me lol.

You sir are a manly man. But Im not talking about those sissy mild New Jersey winters. Im talking lake Ontario winter. :D

just start gorging on seal blubber in September. You should have a nice layer of fat on your fingers in time. That's how me and the DEAPs do it.
