Have a cabin in the white haven pa area anyone fish this area? Found alot of native trout streams. Will be heading up there atleast twice a month. Fished the lehigh any recommendations on flies there? The native trout streams they hit everything I tried throwing at them. Gonna run up on opening weekend, haven't been there for that yet.

In White Haven is one of my favourite fly shops, The Evening Hatch, nice people there and well stocked for all your needs.

In the area are some fine small streams, Mud Run, Hickory Run, and Tobyhanna Creek. I enjoy fishing all of them. I do not know what opening day is like there, but you should be able to find some quiet waters to fish on those streams.

You'll enjoy exploring the streams, they are rather nice fishing waters.

We have a stream that runs behind the cabin, about 50 yards away loaded with natives. Evening hatch is a great shop, they put us on the fish last year. Will give it a try on opening day so many places to fish can't imagine it gets to crowded. If not we will hit the local water hole and fish later in the day.

spring ridge outfitters in kunkeltown ,brian Tatar, owner is one of the most knowledgeable guys in that area , has a shop in his house , prices are great. call for hours.

Just out of curiousity, the cabin isn't available
to be rented is it?

You know, anyone who posted to this thread for ALLMYNE to fish should be invited to spend at least one weekend at his cabin.

Afterall, you gave up some good spots to him... Sounds fair to me.

as long as they don't mind alot of kids being there, we are actually in the process of fixing up a trailer that will be an adults only trailer with those with out kids. It's gonna have an enclosed porch all I gotta do next is find a bar to put in there. :beer1:

I agree 100% our cabin is kid friendly, just redoing the trailer for adults with no kids, so the kids don't wake up from the drink'n adults. My daughter is 6 and is great at catching trout. Gotta teach them young to emjoy fishing for sure.

I've fished most of the streams in the area over the years. You might call them my "Home Waters." "The Evening Hatch" is an excellent shop. They are very knowledgable about the area. On opening day the public waters of Tobyhanna Creek in the State Game Lands will be packed with fishermen, as will most of the bank access areas to the Lehigh River around White Haven and in the State Game Lands upstream from Thornhurst. You could try the 2 mile Fly Fishing only stretch on Mud Run. There are 4 access points. These are where the stocked trout are put in the creek. Nearby Nescopeck Creek should have good opening day action. You could try Hayes Creek and fish upstream from it's mouth on the Lehigh just downstream from White Haven at the entrance to Hickory Run S.P. Recommend you check it all out wth the guys at the Evening Hatch.
Good Fishing,
Bob K.

Thanks for all the info, finally finished with all the work that to be done up there, loaded the frig and freezers. Hit the small creek behind the camp, hit a few very small natives using a BH nymph. Came back just in time to unload the booze delivery truck, now the cabin is set for the season.

Speaking of Nescopeck Creek, a rather large canoe club has scheduled
a trip down the Nescopeck on opening day of trout season. Maybe I'll go up there with my video camera. I will probably get some good pictures of wet canoe'rs. What were they thinking ???

Lets form the FRIENDS OF THE UPPER NESCOPECK CREEK and sue everyone with a canoe.

AA Pro Shop located on RT. 115 just north of Blakeslee Corners (junction of rt.940 & 115) is another very well stocked top notch fly shop in the area.
You're fortunate to have these two very reputable shops so near your intended destinations.
