Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

What am I?

the sad old dog with no friends
Hit the BFB for a few hours today....I spent more time in the car than fishing...started out by checking the temps at a few spots, and at the first one this landed on my shirt. Sounded like a carpenter bee when it landed. The tails were almost 1 1/4 inches long, longer than the body of the fly itself. So what is it? I am not so good with bug identification.

On a side note, the water is LOW, and it hit 68 degrees today. The last time I checked was at 5 just before I left and it was holding steady at 68....

That is a beautiful March Brown - MacCaffertium vicarium formerly known as Stenonema vicarium. It's a little early for them, but with this weather, not surprising.

Nice shot.

Thanks Matt....that is what i thought it was, but was unsure, hence the post! Are the tails always so looooonnnnnngggg?

Im late to the game but here you go

Looks like Stenonema Vicarium or March Brown to me. They are usually tied in a size 2xl hook because of their size. That's my two cents. Im no entomologist but thats what it looks like.

That was the only one I saw all day.....lot of hendrickson's, mostly spent ones, not quite the classic spinners, but definitely not long for the world.

fished the BFB late today, just got back. Awesome time...Saw the same exact flies you have pictured below! ALOT of red quils and Hendricksons today. Fished the rifle range for a bit, then moved to a different section up a bit further north. Caught most on nymphs, and then just before it got to dark, took out my hand lamp, tied on a BWO and red quil. Spent about an hour in the dark catching a few fish. Had to listen for the splash. It was great!

Pray for enough rain to raise the rivers and cool them off a few degrees...

Had to kick a local PA dood out from the FFO section...what frosted my nuts he had three fish on the stringer!!!!!!! And another guy down by the rifle range kept everything he caught...

I say it is a March Brown.

I know I am right, so how much did I win?

$500 ??
$1,000 ???

$6,743.28?
