Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

West Branch River Report for this past weekend.

Caddis

wanna be fly fisher.
Fished the Delaware River Club, Home Pool Saturday morning from 6am - 8am with not even a snag on a rock. Moved to Hale Eddy approximately 6 miles upstream and fished from about 8:15 - 12:00. No fish rising. I had 1 tug on a size 18pt and it took my tippet with it. That was the end.

Around 1:30 or so, I started fishing the home pool again. I missed about 5 fish somehow, I guess I wasn't expecting any hits. I did manage 1 small 12" rainbow (see the photo gallery) that jumped out of the water 1/2 dozen times. I thought I was fighting a snapper.

The river was full of Fog Saturday morning, so I expected to not do so well. Sunday was nice and Sunny at 7am but there was still some fog on the water. Once the fog cleared, a small trico hatch emerged but there were no fish working.

The water was much higher on Saturday than it has been. Sunday morning the water receded at least 1foot. The water temps all weekend at the DRC were 48-50.

At Hale Eddy, the water temp was 46 in the AM and rose to about 48 in the afternoon.

I got a laugh at Hale Eddy. Some clown decided to jump in the river in his boxers. He submerged his entire body and looked like a little kid playing in the bathtub. I told him he was nuts and he said that in the winter months, he sometimes has to break the ice on the river banks in to get in. He called it, "Hydrotherapy." I call call it, "NUTS"!!!
