Update on Pebble Mine

The mine company shouldn't even have the right to sue a govt agency. Accept the ruling and get lost.
But all developers with their lawyers just keep on comin until they get what they want. Sick

You don't think that a government agency should play by the rules?

A government agency should stop the project based on the evidence not collude with one party to defeat the other.

Maybe this North guy is on vacation and away from his phone...It's only been 11 months since the guy said he would answer some questions... ;)

While I'm the last person to defend the mining interests in Pebble Mine, I have to disagree with you on whether or not a corporation or anyone for that matter can sue our federal government. We have to have checks and balances under a rule of law. That said, let's hope they lose their case at whatever level it climbs to. This mine just doesn't make any sense. For what it's worth, we sue the feds when they do stupid things and their various grants are our strongest financial support of our work across the nation.

I agree you should be able to sue the government. The mine has more problems then the EPA and TU. Their investors and contractors are walking away from it. Lets hope no one else wants to get involved and shies away from all the bad press and protests they would have to endure.

The pebble mine is a horrible idea plain and simple. All of the companies are from outside of America. They don't care what they damage.

From the Washington Times over a month ago:

'EPA officials told the committee they were unable to provide a number of relevant documents because Mr. North’s computer crashed in 2010 and his files were not backed up on an EPA server,” Ms. Carroll said. “Because critical documents are missing, only Mr. North can answer many of the committee’s remaining questions, however, he has gone to great lengths to avoid cooperating with the committee.”'

I suppose that people are ok with government impropriety if they find the outcome to their liking.

But if one takes issue with emails being "lost" in ONE government agency to cover up wrong doing... one should be equally outraged with it happening in another.

I agree 100%. Now North has taken refuge in the Netherlands. What the hell is wrong with this justice department and the administration thumbing their noses at the constitution? I would have never thought that the American population would allow this type of behavior ever in this country.

The majority of the people have become docile. The nazi's didn't put fluoride in the water to make the populations teeth healthy.

Backers of Alaska gold mine win court battle with EPA | Fox News

Pro, con or indifferent, US citizens should expect Federal agencies to play by the rules.

This ruling doesn't make the process any easier for approval, but acknowledges possible misdeeds in the process, perpetrated by Federal employees.

There was no question that the EPA did what they wanted when it came to the pebble mine.

Luckily Alaska passed legislation to protect Bristol Bay waters, or at least make an attempt to.

But, the wording of the law leaves me to wonder who helped write it since it still allows mines of a smaller scale to be created.
