Farmington River , West-Central CT
Housatonic River , Western CT
Delaware/Beaverkill/Willowemoc System Catskills, NY
RI Shoreline(Saltwater)
Cape Cod/Marthas Vinyard MA(Saltwater)

A very personal list - as favorite spots to fly fish should be. Ask me tomorrow and this list will change.

South Branch Raritan River, NJ - my home water with beautiful wild browns
Skaneateles Lake, NY - best mixed bag lake (can catch landlocked salmon, lakers, rainbows, yellow perch and smallies in the same day) I know and a beautiful place
Centre Co. PA limestoners - classic fly water, plenty of trout
Connetquot R, NY - my favorite fishing "Disneyland"
Southwest Corner of Newfoundland - down home Atlantic salmon fishing at its best.

The Zen answer is always best. Favorite spot - where I'm fishing now, Favorite rod - the one in my hand, favorite fly - the one I got on etc, etc.

Without being too specific and in no particular order I would recommend any of the following:

West Branch Delaware - PA
Beaverkill/Willowemoc - NY
Yellow Breaches - PA
Battenkill - VT
Fishing Creek - PA

I have my own list of local favorites, but any of the above choices are representative of quality NE fly fishing.

Catskills (Willowemoc, Beaverkill, West Branch)
Adirondack (Ausable)
NJ (Big Flat Brook, KLG)
PA (Lycoming Creek, Fishing Creek, Penns)
Maryland (Big and Little Gun Powder)
Sorry for the Extra CT (The Farmington)

Catskill Mountain Man you may not see me but I hear your banjo n smell your chaw.

My Favorites..Not in any specific order

1. The Beaverkill/Willowemoc
2. Main Stem Delaware
3. Upper Connecticut
4. The Ausable River
5. The South Branch (my home water)

Notables...The East Branch, Neversink, Penns Creek, The Dead River & The White..

You notice no CT or Mass..Just because I have never fished them..Always thought they would be full of Red Sox fans:D..I will have to venture to the Housy and Farmington one of these days (sporting Yankee gear of course)..

I guess I was being overly protective:D, but since some else mentioned it, change my list to 6 and add the Big Flat Brook in NJ.

I'm just a blue grass man

Since you all have mentioned alot of my favorite fishing places here i go...

1. Fir brook
2. Willowemoc (upper)
3.Beaverkill (upper)
4. Neversink (lower)
5. Mongaup (I'm not telling :D)
6. Ausable (anywhere, oh and the one in ny not mich.)

I was going to say - "Need more info.- time of year, species target etc...

Salmon River, Pulaski - Drop back steelies would be my bet.

Adirondacks may not be clear until Early-Mid May due to heavy snow pack & river ice, Maybe the same for the Catskills? Look for dam controlled rivers if you come early & check the flows at USGS.

With that time of year, you may benefit from hiring a guide to put you in the best situation for a sucessful trip.

I would say my target species would be wild Brookies first and then rainbows. And the fish can be only 9-12 inches thats fine for me I want to tryout my 4wt anyway... I will check USGS at work tomorrow!
thanks again

If wild brookies are what you want, then northern VT is where you want to be. Just about any running stream has them, and there are some real hidden gems. Lightly fished to boot. Lots of super-clear granite mountain streams.

1. Hidden Hole
2. Cant Find It Canyon
3. Stream of Secrets
4. Blind Brook
5. Forbidden Falls

All can be easily be found in the U.S.

BIGBOW, you are learning well.
Remember my stock answers:

1. In the water

2. at the Starbuckville Dam
