The TRUTH about BEETLE

Hello fellow NEFFers.

I am proud to announce that I am, again, in good standing with NEFF.

I received a PM yesterday from Simms. Since I am the board's MORAL COMP-ASS, I'd like to report to you all that Simms may not be such a bad guy after all.

We'll see.

SIDE NOTE TO SIMMS: Showing off your expensive gear does not make you cool. IT MAKES YOU AN ASS IN MY BOOK.

Anyway, enough of Simms, as he and I are friends from this point forward.

What is it that I wanted to say?

Well, the real Beetle is the guy on the blog. I am shy and reserved.

I respect a lot of the folks on this site.

DCabarle is a great guy. His site rules the airwaves.

And BEETLE supports NEFF.

Always have, always will.

I am not showing off my expensive gear, beetle... lol While one may think SIMMS gear is too expensive, IT DOES DO ITS JOB and DOES IT WELL, that is why I have it. Got sick of wearing that Cabelas and Hodgman shit that left me damp after a rainy day...I've had it all...From the WALLS specials all the way up to where I am now. Ill never switch to another brand except maybe Patagonia..My dad wears all their gear and swears by it...

But yes, Beetle and I are friends now and soon will fish together :)

NEFF outing #2 is in the works. I will report details in due time..

Still have not received more money. Please send money. The only winner on this site is the one who sends the most money. Results will be posted later this year.

That a boy, plant a nice big smootch on dennis's and Simms butt cheek. But i for one have not forgotten and cannot be swayed. Maybe brough and ak have no standards, i will maintain my dignity.

Glad to hear that Beetle Welcome back and Yae He really is a Good Guy from what I can tell --- He is a Ball buster and his BARK is way worse than his BITE

FOR SIMMS

I hate SIMMS Gear -- Yes it is way too expensive and if you shop around just a little you can fnd gear just as good if not better for reasonable prices
WIth SIMMS you pay for a Name -- Hell I have SIMMS G3 Wading Shoes but I got them for 60 percent off (Thats the only reason I got them) But I have Dan Baileys Waders -- have had them for 3 years and guess what They keep me dry -- they dont have a patch on them and I fish Alot and I'm very hard on my gear especially my Waders -- I walk through all sorts of Sheet and never had a problem with them

Peace
Dan

I kinda like LL Bean....

Outstanding Waders -- Hell you can fish those L.L. Bean waders for 3 years and send them back saying they leak and for NO CHARGE get Brand New ones sent back to you

Peace
Dan

I was wearing the Rapid River (<$200), till the foot started leaking.

Sent them back, no problem. They were back ordered at the time so I applied what I paid for them for their "New" Helix model ($400)

They are ok, I guess. I see no difference in them and the Rapid River.

I don't like and never did was the clasping system they have. You just touch it and they come apart.

That and there isn't a long enough tag from the back harness, so if you like to fish in cold weather and have layered clothing on, it becomes difficult at best.

If these leak, I send them back and get two pairs of Rapid River waders.

But I will still get LL Bean.

I don't know, danme, Dan Bailey waders are in the same price point as Simms :crap:

Good for Beetle for whatever it is he did:)

Now back to defending Simms (products, not the poster - he's a big boy and does just fine for himself). I've gone the cheap route, the mid-priced route and the high-end route on most any of my hobbies over the years. I learned 2 things; one is that the higher end gear when made correctly will outshine all the rest and is always worth the extra cost over the long run, and the other is that every once in awhile some of the high priced companies are not necessarily the manufacturers of the best end product. I count Simms as being top shelf on product quality and I own a bunch of their stuff. I find Orvis on the other end of that same scale of higher priced manufacturers in the FFing industry.

Rusty, How do you like ORVIS waders? I can not tell you HOW MANY pairs I have had that leaked on the first trip...within MINUTES....as well as a slough of my fishing buddies...

I owned one pair of Orvis waders and they leaked out of the box. Sent them back, the only product I think I have ever returned in my life. They sent a second pair that also leaked. I complained again and was told by others that this was the first year they had dropped Gore-Tex for something cheaper. It wasn't that they had holes in them, they just "weeped" all day while you were wading so much so that you were very damp by day's end. I still have those somewhere in a closet but Orvis won't get another dime of my $$. I have had other similar experiences with that company yet I know others will swear by them. To each his own I guess.

Rusty,

I have no idea where your buying your Dan Bailey's waders but I spent under 130.00 for mine and compared to the same type Simms makes it would have cost me over 225 for them so the price is way different for for Dan Bailey's

As far as ORVIS Waders go --- ORVIS doesn't make any waders -- they have some JAP manufacurer put the ORVIS name on them -- I would never own Orvis Waders or Wading Shoes -- IMOVHO you can do better for the same price with a different company.

Now Orvis Rods are a totally different story -- I love Orvis Fly Rods -- Always have -- In fact I have 2 Orvis Graphites that are well over 25 years old and are my favorite rods to fish with. They cast Great and I can feel the fish hit in the Handle of the rod --- Needless to say You can't find rods like that anymore.

Pece
Dan
