Thats why i gave him 90% credit catching the fish and its not an attack. I just think as FF we need really consider where we stand on a matter such as this no matter whether its a monster or tiny little brookie. Of course tiny brooks cant break you off in a bush.

My comment has no relevancy of hate for AJs fish and I am very happy for him, I just think he needs to think about the way he landed the fish and whether it was acceptable to him and the majority of FFs.

Put it this way, if its not AJ who catches this fish, everyone is saying thats a monster, congrats. People don't like AJ for his ego, but in the end you can't rip someone's accomplishment based on the person themself. This site is ridiculous, people will praise BRKTRT all day for a 4'' fucking brook trout caught in a stream with the volume of my piss stream coupled with a picture of a stack of pancakes with blue berries on the side ,but we cant give credit for a 28'' wild/holdover whatever brown in the south branch. Its a great fish, great catch, period.
I get people who don't like AJ hate this post for the fact it allows AJ to receive credit, further building his ego, ect. but in the end who gives a shit. Its fishing. People wake up every day and do amazing shit as doctors, soldiers, scientists...ect. Flyfishing is a niche hobby that 99.9% of the population doesn't know or care about, so if AJ really does think of himself in a light that the haters all say, who cares its fishing. Personally, I've found him to be a good guy on stream, and find his following of homo minnions like Twalsh to be far creepier and strange than AJ himself.

As to my point, my point is that some of the beef directed towards the man is justified, but in the end, the man caught this fish, its a hell of a fish, and no matter what you think of him its an amazing catch that deserves credit, and would receive credit if any other angler had landed the fish.
With your whole "is this guy famous" underlying theme, i've already made it clear that i think its ridiculous when fly fisherman think their accomplishments somehow are famous, public knowledge, or somehow increase their importance on this earth. Fly fishing is a sport most of this world does not know about, nor cares to know about. But in the end, the people who have made a serious attempt to deny AJ being granted credit for this fish are as ridiculous as Aj for wanting to receive credit for this fish in the first place. Clearly, its very important for people who don't like him to do what they can to make sure any argument against him is brought to ensure credit for this incredible fish is not given.
Its not barry bonds breaking the HR record, its not DB breaking the yards in a season record.....its just a really nice fish and I think if we are all honest everyone can admit that.
Finally Cmoser, your tone tends to indicate you think your actually knowledgable in this sport.....let me guess you maybe bought some of Al cucci's dubbing, think you used CDC before anyone knew about it in the early 2000's, and catch a few 20'' fish on your weekend warrior trips which somehow make you think you've figured this whole game out. Is this catch irrelevant to you because you dont nymph, bc thats not what delaware anglers do, and therefore catching a big fish subsurface is incapable of receiving merit(unless of course we were smart enough to buy Kelly Galloups super secret streamer patterns that catch monsters on a regular basis)? I got this one at the South Branch of the Raritan today! It measured in at 28 and a half inches. Torrey, the skeptic says it's huge! When I held it up I could feel all the fish that he had been eating in the recent past. I can tell you that there were more than 6 in there! Too bad it messed up and ate my size 16 Frenchie!!!

AJ is a standup guy. He tells it like it is. Some people equate that to ego. I personally do not. One thing about AJ is he will never hold back information, and to best of his knowledge try to answer any question presented to him. AJ and I share the same philosophy regarding the art of fly fishing; information not shared is useless information. I feel it is our duty to pass on all the knowledge that this site has in its member base. At the last RRTU FTN AJ helped a young fly tier along with the art of whip finishing and singed a DVD for the young lad. This is not the action of an Ego maniac.
