Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Switch Chucker line

What are you interested in doing with it? Nymphing mostly? Swinging?

Never used the SC, however....For the former, I would just put a scandi compact or very light weight skagit (if you don't have a scandi) head in front of an old 4-5wt line you have around (can save a bit of $ for the same basic effect), for the latter, go with a running line. Something I've used before if I only want to carry a single reel/spool and I'm doing both is to go backing -> running line -> 4/5wt line -> shooting head. It only takes a couple minutes to add/remove the 4/5wt mid section if you want to switch between nymphing and swinging, and can fit in your pocket.

Its geared for the guy who wants to swing and indy fish with a mendable line.

The running portion is tapered down gradually so some heft remains in the front when you need it to throw in a mend.

If I had a switch rod (soon) I would definitely try this line out.

I'm presently running a 420g Airflo skagit switch ahead of a Rio shooting line on my 5 wt Beulah switch. It punches out the 5-6 inch articulated streamers I'm swinging but the two things I don't like are the loop/loop connections running hard through the guides and the running line is a little difficult to handle because of its small diameter and semi-flat profile.

For the loop-loop connection, try parafilm over it (used in labs to seal petri dishes and for grafting plants). It's a stretchy plastic that self-adheres without a chemical adhesive and won't be affected by getting wet. And it won't leave a sticky residue behind on your line, just peel it off. It's about $5 on amazon right now. There might be something similar in a hardware store.

I'm not sure about the running line...maybe try a thin glove with silicone finger tips (the kind advertised for using touch screen phones)? If you end up just going with a hybrid line, I'd be curious to know what you think.

The switch chucker indi fishes and swings flies "ok" but does neither well. You also can't feel shit while bottom bouncing due to the fat ass head on it. If u want a line that does most things well i recommend the regular rio switch line and is actually quite nice to work with (I use it for nymphing the SR under an indi). For swinging flies go airflo scandi head with a good running it's a hell of a good time
