Fished a NE PA river Saturday and stuck two 20"+ browns. I knew before I left that the river was running higher than normal flows but I didn't realize that the heavy rain we didn't get the end of last week, they did. I had planned on nymphing but when I got to the river I realized that my skinny ass couldn't stand the strength of the heavy water. So I removed the nymphing leader from my 11' 4 wt and added 10' of T-11 to my 4 wt line. Looped on a 2' piece of 12 lb mono, dug out my baggie of articulated uglies and tied on my favorite olive sex dungeon. It was a little tough casting that heavy streamer, but the 11' rod helped flop out that sink tip. Didn't do any stripping, just let the streamer swing to the slack just outside the current and that is where the fish were laying.
