Beautiful, Allen. You don't actually fish with those, do you?
Goose,
The answer to your question is yes this is a good attractor pattern and works very well. You get some looks when tying it on but the proof is in the pudding when you hang a fish or two on it.:)

Every time I read/ see you posts in the fly tying section, I wanna leave work and get home to the fly tying bench.
Thanks for the motivation.

P.S. My flies look nothing like yours. LOL

Hi Allen,

I've seen a few of your tying threads and you definitely put together some awesome stuff. It's nice to know that you fish them too. My question is what do these things look life after they've been fished? Do they come back to form if they haven't been chomped on, and if they've caught fish do they get all mussy and fishy looking?

thanks
Francis

Hi Francis ,
Thank you for your kind words! To answer your questions when you use them and they do not get taken they usually dry out and do come back to form. But if a fish does take them they get shredded and will never look the same but they still will catch fish!!:)

Thanks for the reply!

One thing I've always loved about tying non buggy flies is the feeling of voodoo and magic (especially with dried animal parts hanging about), like i'm ritualizing a charm rather than crafting an insect.

I might have to expand my tying selection past the old reliables and try my hand at the classics, I just wish they didn't use so much jungle cock hahah.
The history and beauty involved with these flies is always mentioned but the hedonistic aspect of it interests me as well, kind of like taking a Bentley to a smash up derby cuz ya got it like that =P also, I bet they look bad ass after they've been roughed up a bit.

Keep posting your creations and maybe if I ever tie anything worth showing I'll put it up.

Thanks again!
