Salt water report

Got some salt water fishing in the past couple days and fishing was decent but not crazy. Landed a few good fish and lots of short fish. Didnt measure or weigh anything but I probably landed my biggest bass on a fly rod. it was pretty nuts since I though there was no way I was going to get it past the big surf this weekend. No one else fishing the beach side the entire time, but I hear the bay has been fishing really well. Season is almost over. Hope to get out one more time.

Where you catching heat of the summer stripers? I fish year round too, but for other species. Looking for stripers in the heat of the summer is like finding a needle in a haystack. The bite gets hot again when the fall run begins. Weird spring again for stripers IMO, hit or miss and not a big run. Sea bass and ling are out in numbers though.

You know were I fish. The bass are there all summer but most are little guys 20 inchers but they are still fun,then in late mid august some better fish start to show back up.

You can catch them all summer on the Delaware but I stop going to the surf pretty soon. Hybrids at spruce run is almost as good.

I agree..I have caught bunches of them...they get big and fast....

Gotcha. I usually do the boat thing then quit when it slows.. didnt know fish hang there all summer.
