Salmon River Report 2012

First just wanted to say hello being new to this forum! I am from the west now in grad school at SUNY Upstate and have fished the Salmon River a few times for steel, I know there are some salmon pushing in the DSR now, however, being in school means the funds are super low, are there fish throughout the river now, or as I think the water might be to warm still and the fish are not making it up too far. I might have some time to get away from my experiments tommo and wanted to know if you guys think it might be worth my time to go wet a line, yes yes, I know any day on the water is a good day, sadly I have to plan accordingly haha... thank you in advance for any info!

Before you leave school, can you find the classroom and corresponding lecture on how to properly hold a fish without killin it? I dont give two shits if you face fuck a salmon, but show some god damn respect to a fish that goes BACK to the lake...

The classroom should be in the wing called, "How to not be a douche, Pduane is here."

Bahhhhh, it's just a hatchery fish ain't it? After dragging them in by their tail, backwards through the current (it helps flush out their gills) I usually give them a nice kick from the bank when releasing them, they swim away.....usually tail first just how they were landed.

I'm heading back up, possibly tomorrow, and then again on Monday & Tuesday. I'll be hitting the DSR early all 3 days (lot opens at 5AM) if anyone, well, almost anyone, wants to join.

Won't be home until the 15th. Be on the water every morning during the weekday. Weekends we will be chasing inland fish.

Thanks for the input, I guess I should not have eaten that fish either... any fish that I do release (which is 90% or so) I do not handle in such a way, it is OK to jump to rash conclusions though....

For eating a fish? That is pretty confusing.... I'm fairly confident that I am not the only person that eats what they catch, what I'm sure you are assuming is that this fish is from YOUR fishery... when In fact its from the West Coast where they run from the ocean and taste pretty good, but glad to see you know how to judge character based on a photo....

Coulda fooled me.

You look like a fucking toothless job, high up on orwell, face fucking mudsharks in their canvas waders...I didn't know people out west who fishes for chrome look like you...cross that one off the list...

all kidding aside, NICE FISH!

I have a few teeth left... Since you know what up around here you should take me fishing and show me the ropes... My humble opinion...

My spider senses tell me a big run of fish will more than likely push in after this storm rolls through today. Wish I was home already!

I'm with you, hopefully a few coho start to enter the river system. I didn't make it up today, but will be on the water Monday & Tuesday.

Lynch, pm me.

Lets meet up tomorrow and whack some mud sharks.

I won't be fishing until Monday & Tuesday, heading up tomorrow evening to avoid the 2am wake up on Monday. When I go up tomorrow, I won't be arriving in Pulaski until evening.

They received almost none of the rain that was predicted up there for today. I don't really care about the salmon & low flows, but this is going to be a tough fall for the steelhead.

What Eric tried to say in nice words, was, GO FUCK YOURSELF JOHN STEWART.

I may be heading up tmrw morning to fish the DSR. anyone else?

Since your too much of a pussy to fish for steelhead because "it might snow or its too cold", get up now!

On second thought, going to be 49 degrees up there tonight...You may want to rethink that!

Question, why would you even waste the gas to go catch Salmon?

Dude dont get phased by what people tell you on here. People talk more than fish, but this is a great pipeline for information. Take a little and learn and ignore the rest. Eating fish is fine by me but if you dont want to be raped by people on here keep those comments to yourself. Thats the first piece of advice you should take.

I was fishing above route 81. No hook ups didn't see a single fish landed. In the bigger pools fish stocked to the bottom. Saw only 1 fish moving upstream (after 7 pm)

On the side note
I lost my phone. It's a Samsung galaxy S2. on my way back I guess I left my phone on the top of the car.
If somebody finds it please let me know.

Thank you

I considered driving up to the SR yesterday but decided to fish the West Branch instead.

I will probably head to Pulaski next weekend.

Gonna whack some STEEL!

Fishing was great today. I was fishing down in DSR. Good push of Kings. I guess tomorrow I'll be fishing somewhere else to avoid the crowds

I was fishing down in DSR again yesterday. I didn't except to see the same as it was the day before. Landed over 12. Unbelievable. I would say for 2 days straight it was my best time on the river
