Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Richardson Chest Box

Never saw one..But, momma's got a squeeze box she plays on her chest and when daddy comes home he never gets no rest.

I know an old timer who uses one...Its big, heavy, uncomfortable, gets in your way, opens up to the size of a football field, other than that its great...

alot of guys swear by them..i think they are the uggliest piece of shit you could ever wear on the stream..

Im not a chest pack kinda guy. My pecs are too develeoped and get in the way. Believe me, its not all fun and games being built like a greek god

I have the two drawer box and I like it very well. It never gets in the way and is lighter than those useless, hughmongus nylon chest packs. It carries big dry flies very well as well as smaller flies.

I have the original 5 drawer 1970s version.
Nicely crafted....BUT...
I tried it a few times, but couldn't get used to it. It was always getting in my way...

I ended up using it to store spare flies, tippets, & etc, on long trips.

IMHO: If you already use and like chest boxes, it's one of the best.
If you don't use them, try a less expensive one, to see if you like them.

My buddy has one and he likes it.

I'm considering one too but I don't know if I could get used to not having fly boxes.

But I really like the look of them they have that classic look.

I have a newer version chestpack set up like a richardson ,but its a different brand...I love it. Its nice for wading bc it keeps the flies up high from the water and its not a problem to cast with if you know how to fish which you do. I have a vest simply for the net and a couple larger accessories, I keep all my flies in the chest box. I started out with a richardson and just one thing to consider, I found the metal boxes tended to rust the flies from metal to metal contact with the water that would dry out on the flies. Make sure you put foam pads in, or go with a plastic version of the box like I have, which is durable and doesn't rust the flies at all.
