Somebody's feeling feisty! Must have been that Moosekid comment about me owning you. (In reality, I wouldn't even rent you.)
I think the problem we're having here is that when you say, "the left," you mean the Democratic establishment.
When I
hear "the left" I think about an opening in the clouds, with sunbeams cascading out of it, and angelic voices singing to announce a better day for us all.
I am the left. At least a very small part of it. And I hate the Democratic establishment. I don't give a fuck about Soros. I'm glad he's rich and throws money behind (some) causes I care about. But I don't have much to say about him or his personality flaws. Probably in much the same way that your typical right winger doesn't give a fuck about the Koch brothers.
(See how I left you out of that formulation since, given your recent manifesto and MacFly's, I now know that both of you are blessed with very sophisticated political outlooks that defy easy categorization.
)
Anyway, it's totally normal to lump together all of the shitty examples of flawed humanity that are even vaguely associated with the other side and blame the many for the sins of a few. That's kind of what I'm doing when I bring up pathetic morons like Glen Beck and their legions of sad, middle-aged groupies out there in cyberspace, wallowing in what looks from the outside like a truckload of privilege.
And that's what you and others do with George Soros and his connection to the left. Somebody was talking about ad hominum attacks. Those are kind of the stock-in-trade of political media these days. So instead of talking about policies we talk about Soros and Murdoch and whoever else we can find to generally put a bad face on things. It works.
can we stop talking about Soros now?
