It was a genuine guess. When I was younger, The Guttata was a good early June hatch on the Musky. My first thought was; that it may be Dipterum.. The tail configuration is incorrect. I still think it is some sub species of Para

Well, I learned something from seeing this bug and asking a knowledgeable person.....I guessed wrong the first time as well.
I googled Tom's guess, because I don't know enough about bugs to know any Latin...small brown mayfly and large green caddis are the way I do it....ya' know emergers and duns and spinners is the extent of my knowledge...so I am learning slowly from friends and google.....thought it might be fun to see what others know as well....I guess you're all (well not all..... Grobert) as dumb as me...
Come on Tom, keep looking, you'll find it...It is less exotic than you think....very common name, and more abundant than I could have ever thought, it's the first time I have seen one in 8-9 years of looking at these things....

The regulars on the Farmington call them chocolate duns. Someone here will finally get it correct. Try Jason Neuswanger's Troutnut site. His is one of the best identification sites out there.

I'm not an expert, so are they the same as this, because this is what it is, at least what I was told by someone with a college degree.. and with the leg color and tails and size and time of year and location, I would agree..
If they are DC will one day send someone a triple taper fly line..it won't be ddluver though....

Nope, gotta look closer at the hind wings, wrong shape for needhami.....this stuff isn't always easy and there is natural variation within species just like with humans.

After looking again...this is definitely a "little dark Hendrickson" all of you boobs guessed wrong and will not win a fly line....I will let DC know right now not to send it....

So you fit right in!!!! You guys are putting way to much weight on some guys with college degrees. We all know it was the same commie higher education system that produced all the scientists that made up the global warming lie. Bug scientists are just as reliable as climate scientist. Internet forums are the only real source of truth and knowledge.
