Musconetcong channel restoration project next week (Nov. 10-12)

Just a heads up that TU will be restoring a 1/3 mile stretch of the Musky between Asbury and Bloomsbury from Monday through Wednesday of next week. If you see that the river is running yoohoo brown, that's just us restoring the channel and it will only last a few days in that area. This is a Farm Bill funded and William Penn Foundation funded project on a dairy farm (BSB Holsteins) where TU and several other partners have been working for many years now to fence the cows out of West Portal Brook, a native brook trout tributary that flows in part through this farm, plant at least 5 riparian buffers along both West Portal and the Musky to buffer against the row crops planted each year, and manage the cow manure from entering either the stream or the river. We hope to see this farm be the first in the Musconetcong watershed to achieve the River Friendly Farm status, a program administered by our partners at North Jersey Resource Conservation & Development Council. Work to restore West Portal can't be performed until after March 15th due to trout spawning right now, so that work will complete the project sometime next spring.

I guess what I'm saying is, fish upstream or well downstream early next week.
