TU Musky river restoration set for late June at "A Frame"

It's been a long time since I have posted a conservation thread, but some of you will want to know that TU has fully funded the Musky A-Frame project, so called because the Division owns the property and the A frame style home that a CO lives in. This is about 1/3 mile of public water from the Warren side immediately upstream of the Musky Trout Hatchery/Warren Rod & Gun Club property between Asbury and Bloomsbury. My firm, Trout Scapes River Restoration, will be doing the restoration and we have the permit in hand already. The project cannot begin until after June 15th due to wood turtle hibernation followed by trout stocking closures. But we plan to be in the river the week of June 18th if flows permit and do this in roughly 4 days.

The Central Jersey TU chapter got help from an Embrace A Stream grant as well as national staff funding from the Delaware Basin Initiative as well as 6 other NJTU chapters to fund this river channel restoration project. We will be adding three pools as well as some pocket water while enhancing insect producing riffles.

Post pics. Also I havent been around in awhile a direction to any new work done (with pics of course) would be eye candy. Gj

Will do, but this project won't come off until after the closure that ends June 15th. We will most likely be in the river the week of the 18th of June. Got two new projects for TU staff on the Lopatcong Creek on public (or soon to be public) waters that we will do next year and some projects in CT for those that live or fish in that state. Connecticut is really breaking wide open for us right now, both public and private waters. I'm going to be sending plenty of $$ to that state when my daughter heads off to Quinnipiac University in the fall, so I might as well take some back out....

Make sure your daughter takes the hike up the Sleeping Giant to the castle at the top. My grandfather was a stone mason and he worked on that WPA during the depression.

We plan to take that hike next time we're there. I have already looked at their main pond on campus and it needs some TLC and some stones that mimic Sleeping Giant since it is such an iconic landmark for the school and the area. Maybe I can negotiate a deal to cut her tuition. :)

Here is the design overview for anyone that cares or knows the location. Public water and the only public water in that stretch between Asbury and Bloomsbury where all of the club water is located.
