KLG report

Fished Friday 5-27-11. Water temp 65 at 10:30 and 67 at 5:00. Water was somewhat off color. Flow 225 CFS, Gauge 6.8 (A little high). 8 fish caught. 3 on MB nymph #12. 4 Wet Sulfur #16. 1 on PT nymph #18. 2 wild browns, 1 wild bow, 3 Browns & 2 brooks. Crowded in am and only saw 3 people after 5:00. Fish seem to be more interested in hitting while the fly was dragging down stream. Fishing was very slow.

On a side note met up with some crazy lady and her kid. While I was releasing a fish, they proceeded to ask me if I was fishing this spot. I replied "Yeaaaah I am releasing a fish and I plan to fish the adjacent hole". Then I hear her talking to her kid (about 15 couldnt tell if was G or B) She said "go ahead and cross right there". I proceeded to throw up my arms in disgust and said just go ahead and take the hole, I'm leaving. I continued to talk to myself out loud about how rude people are. Then she almost drown her kid, because she led him out to a fast section of the river where he proceeded to get his/her foot stuck between 2 rocks. He/she dipped themslves and couldnt get up all the way. The dumb assed mother proceeded to land and release a fish while her kid was partially submerged. She actually had to submerge the entire right half of her body to dislodge its leg. What a moron. Hope this isnt anyones wife on this site. If it is, Oh well.

Typical of the GORGE -- That place get hammered by people that shouldn't fish THERE. I wish I had a PENNY for every person i see there wading/standing where they should be fishing It just amazes me that people have NO IDEA about where to fish or even how to read a river, but yet they think their doing the right thing by doing what they are doing.

Funny how I sometimes wait on the bank and watch people fish, standing in the exact spot they should actually be fishing and then when they move I will go right where they were say 15-20 mins later and catch a few trout. It's even funnier when they see me catch them then ask me how I did that. or What are you using?

If the person seems to be genuine and wants to learn I will take the time to teach/help them out. If they aren't sincere I just tell them I'm using a special JACK-O-LOPE Fly from the infamous Jack-O-Lope species which only lives in Egypt. (LOL) But for the most part I will help them all day long and explain to them that reading the water is one of the most important aspects of Trout Fishing. After the grasp that I will help them in fly selection and presentation of their fly.

The way I look at is this. If we help the "GENUINE" and "SINCERE" Fisherperson -- We are in fact helping ourselves because they may actually not know that what they are doing is wrong. So by helping that person out they will be more astute as to not walk on the fish which in turn allows the person who does know the chance to fish behind that beginer without the problem of him/her putting the fish down or scareing them so bsdly they wont eat.

But as many of you are thinking as you read this -- SOME PEOPLE JUST FLAT OUT DONT CARE. We as fishermen need to discern who is sincere and who isnt. I know it's hard but I at least try.

I can't tell you how many times I want to nuke someone with my replies, but (almost always) think better of it and go soft on them instead.
