Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Jig Hooks

I have read other blogs where guys have stopped using them for the reason I said.
I have been fly fishing almost as long as you.I have never hooked a fish in the gills with a fly. Can anyone say that they have? Just curious if it happens with flies.
With Trout, rarely but it's happened, the last time I remember was while slack line nymphing a few years ago.
I can't recall it ever happening with trout on a streamer.

With LM Bass, a little more often, they tend to be very aggressive with surface bugs. "Inhale" may not be technically correct (because they don't have lungs), but it describes the result.

NEFF LIVES!!!!!!!

Tomfly, can you please educate a simple country feller on the ways in which THERMAL dynamics impact the behavior of a fly in the water column. Fluid dynamics, sure -- you can predict turbulence, and therefore uncertainty, in a system. Please help me with the thermal dynamics, teach. Im clearly the only moron on this thread who sees absolutely ZERO relationship between thermal dynamics and the orientation of the hook-point. Thanks.

Dont be too hard on yourself Moose, you are not the only moron on this thread.

went out with a guide on some local rivers this weekend while working in Manchester UK. All his nymphs were tied on jig hooks. Worked just fine.
