Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Not that anybody cares but I finally got sick of my piece of shit Motorola DroidX cell phone and pre ordered the I phone 5. Unfortunately the due date is OCT 5. Not that long of a wait I guess.

Now to find some cool apps (flyfishing of course)

If anybody has some cool apps worth downloading, please leave me a comment. Not really a gamer but gotta have Angry Birds!

As always, thanks for looking!

I was considering the iPhone 5 too but there are some things I'm not sure I can do without at the moment with a Droid. For example.. You can use your droid as an external hard drive. No need for iTunes either.

There are some features of the iPhone that are just hands down better, MUCH better. On the downside, if you enjoyed playing angry birds for free on your droid, those days will be long gone. You'll have to pay for that game once you move to the iPhone.

its not my intention to use the iphone as an external hard drive but it might be a nice feature to have

i've had itunes on my computer since it first came out

i saw angry birds were all free on the app store

Hands down the app I use the most is Yelp! Location based search for restaurants stores etc. Never eat crappy food again

Tapatalk.

If your a frequent traveller like me, award wallet is a good one. All your ff miles, hotel points, etc in one dashboard.

My wife and I have a dummy google calendar we both put family stuff on. Then I have a calendar combining program that puts all my calendars in one place so theres no conflicts. Too many time we had "oh we're going to little Timmy's bday and I was like I told you weeks ago I was fishing"

That's cool. Someone told me a few weeks ago they had to pay for it but maybe there was a free version they overlooked, good to know because as ridiculous as it might seem, Angry Birds is a must have for me too. I play it on the train on my way home from work every day. :)

I suppose since I do play it so often, it might be a good idea to send them a few dollars.

I'm seriously considering the iPhone 5 myself but it's still a toss up for now.

one app i have is Radar US. it is a topo map program that shows doppler radar. When you are on the river or lake you can see storms approaching and no when to leave or if it is going to miss you altogether.

Does that only function with digital reception? Or is it through the GPS?

River Reader, ShralpTide, The Hatch, The Fin, ForumRFree, Tapatalk. You can also subscribe to couple fly-fishing and fly-tying magazines if you're into it but I don't recommend to read them on something as small as your phone.

Ummm good question. I would assume GPS as it has to know your location and then shows you the doppler radar. THere are others like that but some you have to pay for and some not.

my radar is a great weather app..its totally free..i use it all the time..angry birds is free on iphone

I heard the there will no longer be unlimited data with the iphone 5 since it will run on the 4g network. I've had 3 cell phones in my lifetime, kept them all till they crapped out. That's what I intend on doing with my iphone 4.

The only 2 useful fishing apps I've used are shralptide and yachtweather (saltwater).

i'm on the verizon network and had the unlimited data plan.

now i will have the 2gb plan for $30 + the 450 minutes natiowide calling plan for $39.99 (20% discount for working at General Dynamics) = $69.99. Thats the same as i was paying with the unlimited data but i never reached 2gb in any month i was on the old plan so that OK with me

Flytyr,
I have an Iphone 4 there are several usefull apps I have found. stream flow is $1.99 but it get you real time stream flows for the whole country, you can also set up a favorites page of frequented rivers, Fly book is a phone based fly fishing journal that is a 10 out of 10. easy to use and all you need to do is plug in info. It has a great feature that allows you to e-mail a sheet to your self or anyone for that matter with all of the info on it. I print them out ans started to stick them in a loose leaf binder. you can get fish hound for reports, fly fisherman & news latest new on gear, patterns etc. also has a serchable database of guides and destination info. also there is an app called find a fly that will help out newbies ( I know your an experienced fly fisherman & tier) called find a fly, put in water conditions and it will show you a list of flies you try with a photo. a w one called fly box is based on the matching the hatch, I just down loaded it and have not used it yet but it looks good.

Just got notice that my iPhone 5 is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. This is long overdue since I've been using an original 3G iPhone, that really sucks now. I can only get away with limited internet and GPS use before it starts to slow down...its actually kinda "overheats" and starts to get hot. I don't really use much more than email, internet and GPS but it will be nice to be able to use some apps again

River Guide by Wayne Daley, LLC is designed as a kayaking app, but features USGS levels and flows for MOST all fishable rivers; those with a USGS gauge anyway. Fishhound allows you to post updates on yr. favorite waters or read pro and amateur condition reports.

I just got the iPhone 5. Are you guys using the supplied app for getting your email or are you using a different email app. I need to manage 3 emails addys.

Thanks,
Fredy
