Internet sale of NY water

Hllywd76

Get hooked on fly.. just debarb first!!!!
I just heard this today. Someone is bottling New York City water and selling it on the internet.
What has anyone heard of this?
How will it effect the water source and is this legal?
More water that is being taken from the fish without any payback.
Check out the website. Tap'dNY - Purified New York City tap water

Check out the graphics they use to advertise it. "Drink local", "Not from the top of some far off mountain" - yeah, okay. Do they somehow think their drinking water comes from the East river?

There is nothing regulating bottled water. It is not regulated by the FDA because it is not considered food. A lot of bottled water is just filtered tap water. Believe it or not, tap water is cleaner and more regulated than bottled water.

Water (bottled and public and private distribution) is regulated by DOH.

Bottled Water Frequently-Asked Questions

To say tap water is more regulated than bottled is misleading. However, there may be instances where publicly supplied water is "cleaner" than some bottled water brands.

But, we have plenty of other reasons to generally avoid bottled, so I guess the point is moot.

There is a thread about this at catskillflies.com I think there is a spring on the upper Willowemoc a couple of landowners want to tap and bottle.

I'll come back to this one...I was in Brooklyn last Saturday and took some interesting pictures of bottled NYC water...It's something that has been happening, not with any notable success, for a long time.

Look at the positive side of things to come. If people drink enough of this stuff, they'll have to start releasing more water.

I just checked out the website.
Come On - this is stupid.
Water peddlers dressed up like the ghost buster hunting down consumers to refill their water bottles? Marketing- Chique fad. Stupid! What was it that PT Barnem said?
