Humid nights tend to stay warmer, so if temperature is an issue, the river will not to cool down as much at night, since the humidity in the air slows down radiational cooling.
Acts just like a cloudy night. Clouds keep the heat from escaping.

P.S. FFMP has a humidity index calculator that determines water temperature by the humidity index times the square root of temperature divided by the incidence of night time solar radiation, then if you take the inverse of ..... just kidding, did I suck you in?
