Hos Was WB This Weekend

Dennis,
Would you like to share your experience on the WB/MS?? this past weekend? I heard from an anonomous source that you and L floated somewhere on the system.... I canceled my trip because I thought that the rivers would get too much rain and turn muddy like they did the previous weekend. But since they did not seem to get that much rain, I'm thinking I must have missed a super opportunity??

Fishing Report

I fished the mainstem by Lordville Saturday. Water temp was a cool 59. I found the WB too chalky to fish and plain muddy if in the vacinity of any of the feeders so I headed as far downriver as possible. I started at 1 PM. It was a still day, with a steady mist but no real rain. It looked real fishy. Even down at Lordville the stain was pretty bad. Saw a few small caddis early. Around 4 PM a few Iso's came off in the riffles but it was a sparse hatch. The ones that did come off all seemed to end up as bird food. I saw a few fish working them, mostly rainbows in the slack water on one of the seams, missed one take by a gulper. At 6 PM some light olives came off size 16 but it was a short lived hatch. I called it at a day at 7PM fishless. The tribs are running awfully muddy since the flood. Looks like they are making progress getting them cleared though. Shehawken creek makes it to the river now.

OM,

It drizzled a little bit but that didn't affect the fishing at all. We had 3 10" fish right off the bat. Then further downstream in the spot I saw you last week, there were rising fish everywhere, and BIG ones! We hooked into a few and landed a few. Further downstream past the eal traps in some moderately moving water, we hooked into a few more and put a few more in the net.

All in all, it was a great day!

Plenty of insects but no real hatch of any sorts. I caught all of my fish on a CDC like caddis with a maroon body. (Iso's, Olives, caddis, sulphurs)
