Horrocks-Ibbotson -- Tonka Prince

Hello to All,

I'm new to this forum - 2nd post...

I recently discovered I am the owner of a mint 7' Tonka Prince.
Can anyone reccomend a reel, line weight for this rod?

I'm leaning on WF 4 for a line and will have to purchase
a new reel.

The rod will be used mostly on small streams with an occasional
Trip to bigger waters.

Thanks Muchly
Bubba (Kerry)

Ps I'm also looking for information on places/people to repair/refinish another Bamboo rod.(nothing special)

Thanks Again

My opinion is that you'll have to try a few line weight sizes on the rod. Bamboo rods are not mass produced on machines, so every rod is essentially different. I have a '4wt' rod that used to cast a 4wt line. I sent the rod in for some work and it won't cast the line anymore. I have to use a 5wt on it now.

For a reel... Hardy's are nice but they're expensive. If budget isn't an issue, expect to somewhere around $350-$400 for one. If that doesn't work for you, check out the fly fishing show in somerset in a few weeks. You might find a good deal on a reel.

Rod repairs... I can recommend a few that I probably wouldn't deal with but you'll have to PM me for that.

There are a many rod builders out there, but take my advice... Make sure you research the hell out of whomever you choose to do business with. Due Dilligence!
