Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Dennis,

Jimmy, J.C. and I were recently doing some sulphur work. There are some name changes you might want to consider. At first glance:

1. Ephemerella rotunda and Ephemerella invaria are now both called Ephemerella invaria. It is one species with a large range of variation.

2.Ephemerella dorothea is now called Ephemerella dorothea dorothea.

3.Stenonema ithacia is now called Maccaffertium ithaca.

4.Stenonema fuscum is now called Maccaffertium vicarium.

I am sure there are a few more that have changed, I just don't have the time to check my notes.

Hope this helps you out

Hi Mike,

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I'll go ahead and update that information tonight.

By the way, I think I was able to fix the broken links from work. If someone can give that another try that would be great.

Hi Mike,

It seems to be fine now.

Very fine work. Thanks for the update and link info.

BTW: I was just wondering if anyone had informed them of the change in their names?

Dennis-

In addition to the changes McA provided, you might want to update the following on your Northeast Major River Hatch Charts, as they have also been reclassified and/or are misspelled:

Taeniopteryx fasciata has been reclassified as Strophopteryx fasciata
Stenonema vicarium has been reclassified as Maccaffertium vicarium
Ephemerella cornuta has been reclassified as Drunella lata
Ephemerella attenuata has been reclassified as Attenella attenuata
Potamanthus distinctus has been reclassified as Anthopotamus distinctus
Pseudocloeon carolina has been reclassified as Acentrella turbida
Paraleptophlebia debilus is misspelled, should be Paraleptophbia debilis

My recommendation for both reflecting current taxonomy, and providing the valuable bread crumbs for those of us who treasure our classic entomology books, is to show the current name with the prior name in parentheses, i.e., Drunella lata (Ephemerella cornuta).

Incidentally, and I realize this is just a typographical error, but the species name always begins with a lower case letter. In other words, Ephemerella Invaria should be Ephemerella invaria.

Dennis-

Much improved, but there are several remaining inaccuracies:

- Ephemerella subvaria has not been reclassified; don't know where you got that one.

- Ephemerella Invaria should be Ephemerella invaria.

- Ephemerella lata has been reclassified as Drunella lata.
