Fly\River Suggestions

Heron,

35? oh, ass clown.

Oh,ass clown?.....this from a guy whose tag is master baiter? Nice to see you're holding your own.

Why don't you move on. I made some comments you didn't like, get over it.

And since the best you can do is pick on my post count as though that somehow hurts my one feeling I have left......

See you on the river,

Mel

BCB do you have a copy of the Fly Fisher's Guide to NY? It's a good book but not overly current (I think the date of the last revision was 2003). It's a good place to get general info about streams before you go exploring but I wouldn't take everything literally. It has some good info on the Croton Watershed streams, some spots in West Chester, Rockland and Putnam Counties. You can borrow this one for the duration of my exile to Ohio (June-Early August).

Also, I learned a ton of general information from Tom McNally's Complete Book of Fly Fishing (2nd Ed). It's pretty dated at this point in regards to the discussions of equipment but the portions on fly selection, reading water, presentation and species-specific tactics are still very worth reading. Let me know if you want to borrow my copy and I'll bring it with me next time we go fishing.

take a look at this site too

Good advice Mel, maybe you should heed it. As long as you keep posting on this thread you can expect no quarter from the rest of us. Your comments evince an attitude that is pointless on this forum - chastising people for asking questions, and offering nothing constructive in retort. Everyone who is learning this sport has to start somewhere and as all of us are well aware there is a ton of information to learn. If everyone had the attitude you brought to this thread, nobody would learn anything and this forum would basically just end up being a place to compare fish pictures.

If you don't have anything to say that adds to the discussion then just move on to another thread. You've spent enough time and energy defending your ridiculous position. With a fraction of that expenditure you could've pointed BCB in the direction of countless resources without the spoon-feeding that you are so fearful of.

I looked at your old posts and you seem like a guy who has plenty of knowledge to contribute, and like a decent person overall. So maybe you just woke up on the wrong side of the proverbial bed when you posted that unsavory response.
