Fly line for bamboo?

I'm purchasing a new bamboo rod (5wt 7'6"). I don't want to put a silk line on it (cost and maintenance), but I'd like to put a nice line on it.

What line should I put on it and why?

I have a 4wt Parabolic (Quad). It casts the Wulff Triangle Taper like a dream. Roll casting is a breeze. I highly recommend it!

Tell you what. I've got a 5 wt Wulff TT line. When your new bamboo comes in, you just send it to me and I'll be happy to test it out for you! I figure a few weeks ought to do the trick. How's that sound?:D

Wulff TT line.

No matter which way you look at it...

Wulff Triangle Taper is the finest fly line on the market.

What a friend you are. Gosh, I hate tying all those knots and stuff and the tedious "break-in" period really sucks. Don't bring it back until you get the first trout on a new rod out of the way for me......

I also prefer the wulff triangle taper or a double taper. IMO weight forwards are made for shooting line and are better suited for fast action graphite.

I have Orvis Superfine Wonderline on my Granger Victory. It's terrific execpt in the winter. I don't use my boo in the winter - but I use the line on another rod. This line gets stiff in the cold weather. How do you find the Wulff TT performing in cold weather? I'll be glad to put this on my holiday list. Although, a guy from sexyloops.com was a bit critical of Ms Wulff imo. See what he said here: Sexyloops' Tackle Review Section

I store my bamboo in the winter also. I don't like to use it with the weight required for winter fishing. That said I don't like the TT during the cold either but then again it's a floating line and I usually go with my 444 sink tip for winter fishing. It's wonderful spring, summer, and fall though.

I'd second the suggestion about Cortland Sylk. It stays limber all winter, and if you happen to have an agate stripping guide on the bamboo, it may be the only line that fits the guide.
I've tried the Wulff TT on a couple of my cane rods, and have gone back to Sylk.

The downside you'll hear about Sylk is that it picks up dirt rather quickly. I don't think it actually picks up dirt any faster than any other line, but since it's a thinner line than most, the dirt it does pick up sinks it a little faster. Not a problem if you clean your line regularly.
