Had to post something to do with fishing.
I haven't had too much free time lately to get down to the Big P for some pikes, but I got out the other evening to test some new pike flies. I tied up some pike tube flies ala Daniel D. Holm of fluebinding.nu, Denmark.
These flies are a full 12" long and I was a bit skeptical that one, I could even cast the damn thing and two, the pike would eat it. After some casting with of my "smaller" offerings of 6"-8" long and no takes, I looped on one of the big boys. Well I didn't catch anything big, but I did manage two fish landed, one fish lost and 4 misses. All the fish were relatively small for the P at about 24". This however was very encouraging, because I figure that if a jack pike would eat that large a streamer, a big fish would not hesitate if presented to them.
The fish pic is pretty bad, but I think you can get the idea of the fish size to fly size.
