Two things about the caddisfly: Try stacking your hair so that the ends meet up evenly, no need to trim it like that. Also, use less hair.

These flies look rushed. Don't crowd the eyes. There are tons of vids on the web that will help.
And keep tying!

First flies? Good job! Keep at it, they'll get better & better.

Let us know when you hook a fish on one of your own flies. That will definitely be a big rush for you!

Nice job on your very first flies. Keep at it and have fun. When you run into issue or have questions please ask. There are quite a few good tyers on this site that will be glad to assist. Glad to see that you are not afraid to place you work on the sight for all to see. The only input at this time I will give you is for you to practice, practice and practice. Tye twelve of the same pattern, this will allow you to one tye the fly to gain consistancy and you will see an improvement. Second tye at least one fly a day in the beginning. This will improve your speed and will get you fingers and mind use to tying. Welcome to the wonderful world of fly tying.

nice ties that step by step website is a good one just remember less is more with fly tying lol i think everyone on here has said that to me more than once keep posting pictures of your progress!!!

They look great for the first attempts! With anything in life, practice will make them near perfect. All my first flies I tied I placed in a shadow box and began fishing with my seconds and thirds and so on. The overwhelming feeling one gets when they hook a fish on their own fly is a wonderful gift and boon to the sport.

Bravo!

Welcome to the world of fly tying. Those first attempts are really solid, and the Clousers look excellent. It’s really important to learn the “classics” of tying, but remember have fun and experiment. I love to pay with weird materials, and “play” around with patterns, don’t get too hung up on the patterns all the time, fly-tying is about that experimentation. Keep try big flies like the Clousers and the Deceivers. One thing that I always have had trouble with is keeping the hook eyes clear. The other big problem is proportion. (Too much or too little material in wings or tails that are too short or long etc…) Another good trick is buy a “sample” fly which you can refer to while tying. Also get a good book and get a ceramic bobbin. Good luck with the tying, it’s almost better than the fishing. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
