As usual, I'm trying to make the site a more enjoyable place. I'm pretty sure I figured out the convoluted CMS system on this site and it's working fairly well.
So a few things I did over the past few days...
1. I really enjoyed Lynch's rod building tutorial and it kinda made me want to fix the HOME link button on menu. It's now divided into sections and it's fairly easy to navigate. I'll be adding more to it over the next few days. I did remove a few items from the menu such as the RRTU page and a Salmon River page. These will be back and they'll be a little better because now I know how to configure them properly.
2. I've had a few people ask about the classifieds section over the past 4-5 months. Currently it's a menu item at the top (you can see it in the attachment). This classifieds section works for some but it can be a bit cumbersome to others. The reason I prefer using the one in the menu item at the top is because when posted, it not only displays EVERYTHING about what you're selling but it's also capable of sending an email to the seller, allows you to submit offers, and unlike the old version, this one is displayed in the menu bar on some of the pages. If that's too much for some of you and you want something basic/simple, use this: NEFF Gear sell off. . It's a just a Classifieds/for sale forum, you can post everything in there for sale as well as photo's. The drawback... well, it's not as fun for 1. Second, it will only stay on the front page of the site as long as the thread is active. Now don't go trying to bump the post up everytime it leave the front page. If it leaves the front page, wait at least 3 days before bumping it to the top.
3. "e-SHOP" - Also in the menu item (see the attachment) you'll see the link for the e-Shop. This is for professionals to sell your wares. Professionals are people in the fly fishing business. This includes fly shops, guides, etc... So if you're a guide looking to sell trips or used equipment, we can work out a deal. If you sell a guide trip through the site, the person purchasing the trip pays immediately. They can pay via credit card or paypal. You would be responsible for sending me a small and reasonable percentage. I understand what you do and I understand the types of people you may have to deal with. I'm not looking to rape you.
Shops / Dealers... This site has an aweful lot of visitors. Why not offer your items for sale right here. Send me a PM and we can talk about setting up your vendor page.
4. NEFF recommended guide program. Over the years, I've become very acquanted with many of the guides in the Catskill region. In the menu item I will have a list of NEFF recommended guides. If you're one of the guides I'm familiar with, send me a PM and let's talk. If you're a guide and I'm not familiar with you, send me a PM and we'll talk. I will have a page dedicated for guides and I think you'll want to be on the list. NEFF is a high traffic site. If you are not a busy guide and want to be a busy guide, you should contact me.
That's about it for now. If there's anything else you want to see here, that's great. As always, I look forward to your suggestions. I do try to accomodate everyone who PM's me or Emails me. I can't get to your immediately but I do try my best to make this site a great experience for all of you.
Thanks!
