Early Spring - Late Spring ??

We just got 9 inches of snow in 4 hours you boob, I think it's still winter:);)...just a few warm days, there is plenty of water though, which looks good for the spring season...

I know it's cliche but in terms of fishing, "it is what it is".
I'm hoping for a gradual transition to Spring. IMHO, it sucks when the temperature goes from consistent 20's-30's to 70's-80's in the course of a week or 2.

The reason I started this thread is because I'm trying to decide which chunk of spring to take off work.

April 21-30, or April 28-May 7th...

Fr me the best 2 weeks of the season are the last week of April and the first week of May. Up in the ADs the last week of May 1st week of June.

I 2nd the late spring . I vote for last week of April ,1st week of May. First week of June is also good ,Green Drakes! I remember years ago the owner of the Roscoe motel told me people would book rooms a year in advance for the first week of June for the Green Drake hatch on the
Beaverkill.

I think the bugs matured a lot during the warm up we saw prior to the storms hitting and the bugs will be here by second-third week in april. That said, I think we are going to see major spillage on all the tailwater systems/downstream water so when it comes to the risk of high flows I think you are better off playing the later week of 4/28-5/7. By that time, the water temps will for sure be fine and you can find fishable water even at 5-7k cfs somewhere where fish are looking up. Also a less likely chance the beaver kill is ripping if you need a freestone option in the event the tailwaters are really really ripping.

Im predicting a late spring..

Good grief you’re a hot mess. This is what happens when you are out from under my expert tutelage. You can’t even post an avatar correctly. What is that a driftboat in distress?

To the contrary Mac. WBDLuver is just showing his superior selection in drift boats . Clacka’s may “fear no rock”, but Hyde’s fear nothing!!
It’s a bold statement , true players row a Hyde!!
Guys like me just get to look at theirs sitting in their driveway most of the time.....lol

Someone's off his meds again...and he's accusing others of doing what he likes to do.

Can you imagine a goat/cmm mix child??

It's what happens when he shoots the rapids in his special tweed sport jacket au natural (no vessel) during his annual rite of man hood....
The noggin bouncing off the boulders takes its toll....lol

I'm loving this late snow on the ground this spring to hold off an early rush of hatches. Of course, I always head to the upper D the same week every year in search of the Hendricksons, so I want them on time and not early. Hoping that will be the case this May. Headed up the 1st through 7th. Plus a few days trips here and there before and certainly after my annual trip.

Should be prime time. Definitely should be a good year for water with all
This late season snow pack .

Cannonsville recently cut back flows and sits around 93% full already. Plenty of snow I think still to melt yet. Heck, I live in the headwaters of the South Branch Raritan in NJ, and we still have a ton of snow on the ground here. Possibly more coming next Tuesday....

The old guy that works at the gas station on Rt 17 just told me that we're getting 22" on Tuesday. I sure hope not but I still made an unscheduled stop at the liquor store, just in case.

And now we see why your gas attendant has found his perfect calling. Twenty two inches or no snow, whichever. :crap::):):)

Maybe not 22 but still a big storm. That old timer called it last Thursday. Someone should deep fry that ground hog that didn't see his shadow.

I'm all locked in for the 27th - 7th.

Looks like Cannonsville is spilling (or damn close) with the Walton gauge still up over 2K CFS.

Just last week they drew down the flow to 250 CFS and today it's over 100% capacity...

Pepacton, Neversink, and Cannonsville are all over 100% capacity with the entire system @ 99%

The Catskills look pretty blown out right now, unless you've got a boat to try fishing streamers on the upper west..

Serious cabin fever RN.

Stripers are heating up if saltwater is your game

My trip this year should be right on the money with the beginning of the Hendricksons on the WB. Headed up May 1 through that Sunday the 6th. Dream Catcher Lodge with my 18th annual Trout Lout camp crew.
