Didymo Bloom at KLG

Fish first, ask questions later.
Tried fishing the Gorge today. There was didymo everywhere. It was really bad by the trestle. It made fishing tough, covering my fly with slime on every cast. I have been fishing there for only a couple of years, so am interested in knowing whether this is something you have seen before and it will go away or is this a real problem that we should be concerned about.

I also have noticed the presence of some annoying algae, but I didn't think it was Didymo......I hope it isn't Didymo.....or Didylarry, or Didycurly, or....... P-Didymo......

Thanks for the correction. Will it go away?

It's typically worse after a warm, dry summer like we just had. Hope for some cold weather and plenty of snow this winter. I had a talk about Didymo just yesterday with Freshwater Fisheries Chief, Lisa Barno. She tells me that in the new 2013 freshwater fishing digest there will be contact info if you see problems or suspected problems like Didymo or other invasive species of plants or animals.

I stopped at the gorge today......The gook is already dissipating.......but I smelled ....:skunked:..
and I guess some people are really bad shots, I heard one hunter take 3 shots in a row, then 15 seconds, three more, and another quick one..must have been 1/4 mile away at the most, I almost dove in to the river.......

Are you sure it wasn't just another angler angry you took over his fishing spot? :guns:
