Dali Llama flies

Here's a few dali llama flies I tied up last night. Can't wait to get these wet.

Very nice, my friends out west got me in to tying with rabbit strip streamers to make flies that a bull trout just might happen to intercept, not that we target them or anything along those lines.

Might I ask what are you targetting with them?

thrash, the white over white will be for smallmouth and perhaps for trout - it should be a good alewife imitation.

The black over white flies are for giant AK rainbows and steelhead.

Tube flies?

I tie in thick mono to the shank of the front hook with my tying thread, leave an inch or two on the tag end to tie to the eye of the trailer hook. Although I only fish with flies with this a few days of the year, I do get a good amount of hook sets on the trailer hook.

Those are looking good! I see you have double cones to get them suckers down fast. Be sure to tie some with olive and white as well. Those dogs will hunt on the Naknek for sure. You lucky SOB!!

Also, don't be afraid to add more flash. Rainbows out here love their bling.

Thanks a bunch C.T.! I will be ordering olive rabbit this week. And all I have is the skinny flash, I will order some of the wide stuff as well.

Also, instead of thick mono, you can use 20#-30# white fly line backing. I use 20# rio bitewire for my trailer stingers.

I use braided line too, 20# or 30# for the stinger. The stinger hook I am using is a sz 1 Gammie Octopus.

nice ties those will work for sure. Heading to Alaska this summer you lucky bastard?

Fly looks good!

Be sure to have a couple purple over white. Thats a classic combo for Lake Erie and Ontario can't imagine it wouldn't work in Alaska.
