Croton Watershed Report

It's empty on weeknights. going back out tonight. you and gonzo get your asses up here. golden beetle you want in? I was catching these things last night and I couldn't identify them. I think I caught a deer, an antelope, and a squirrel. The SLAM?

No trophy Bear yet. and no Beaver either,,...????

BCB, I was at the WB yesterday evening well past dark. Temp was still on the warmer side (mid-60's). Around 7:15 or so the fish began hammering parachute adams size 18. literally every other cast.

During the day the river was more crowded than I have ever seen it.

So how many fish did you end up catching? I'm guessing you fished for 2 hours. At 30 seconds per cast minus the time to bring each trout to hand...in my estimate that would be 92 trout. Am I close?

I guess I made it sound like I caught a lot more fish than I actually did. While yes, they were hammering the Parachute Adams, I did not manage a successful hook set each time. As far as your estimate goes, subtract about 88 and you're spot on.

Also, we're talking about the WB Croton, which everybody knows is not the "real" WB

"A wise old man once told me...If the trout rising to your fly are not getting hooked, fish the same fly one size smaller."

I've found that to hold true in many cases.
