Well I've managed trout on dry flies for both January and February of 2016. Today I returned to the WTS that produced the wild rainbows for me in January on a Humpy. Today I fished a Small Stream Reflections entry, the Betters Bomber.
The water temperature was a cold 39°, with lots of broken ice chunks along the stream banks. The stream was running clear and at a reasonable level, albeit down considerably by the location of the ice that lined the stream.
I only raised one fish and that one was brought to hand. A beautiful brown trout that by its size, had no business being in this little stream. It absolutely crushed the fly and jumped a number of times before dogging up and down the stream, only then deciding that he had enough.
Funny how just one fish can make for a successful day.
