Welcome back to the new NEFF. Take a break from Twitter and Facebook. You don't go to Dicks for your fly fishing gear, you go to your local fly fishing store. Enjoy!

Catskill flies?

Should have left the name the same. I get it.. Trout town but you have a name like Catskillflies that has been in business for so long, why change such a household name?

Don't know why the name change but that does not matter to me. I called them and I think it was Joe that I spoke to , he worked with Dennis and is doing hand tying and has the fly of the week program that Dennis had. Seems like a nice guy and very well versed in the business.
I felt terrible when the owner before Dennis retired but Dennis filled the gap of the loss I felt at that time, looks like the new guys are following in his footsteps and wish them the best. Here is the contact info, I can't wait to stop and say hello. Imagine trying to get a business going in this environment, I will support them for my Catskill fishing.

Thanks y'all for the information, sincerely appreciate it.
The new 'shop' there is no beta on the river flows or hatches like Catskill flies had done so well on their site. (Unless i missed it)
Has anyone come across a site other then Whacking Fatties website, or Orvis that is comparative to how Catskill flies had there daily beta set up ? Been plugging away trying to find a new home for river reports and starting to lose hope lol.. maybe i was just spoiled with how well Catskill flies had theirs set up daily.:smokelots:
cheers all, thanks again!

Hello, It is now trouttownflies all one word. They have river flows and fly hatch reports. Another one is dettesflies they also have reports but not always up to date. Trouttownflies have up to dates reports. Bill the mailman

In case you didn't know about it, the best source for flow data is the USGS:
https://waterdata.usgs.gov/ny/nwis/rt
flow info on every stream in the country. That link is for NY.

That won't tell you reservoir levels, changes in flows coming up, hatches, etc. The old Catskills Flies website was a regular, daily check for me anytime I was looking to run up to fish. Wishing the new owner all the best. Been stopping in a few times a year for at least 20 years now.

Finally, someone that gets it... thank you !! Cheers !!

This guy has been building his web site from scratch over the last 4-6 weeks. I would keep checking back.

Ellen always got up early each day during the trout season to update all conditions and that is what I miss right now. But the rivers are completely blown out save for drift boats and drifting together is not a good idea right now. I'm waiting for some wade fishing for the Hendrickson hatch in coming weeks.

rumor has it there was some hendrickson activity last weekend

Yup, but it's all a boating game for now. The Cannonsville Reservoir is still seeing far more water coming in at Walton than it can get rid of, hence the big spill into the West. Same for Pepacton on the East. At least it's a bit dryer this week coming.
