Big Flat ... doesn't disappoint

Wow, the water level is very low, but it was such a cool, beautiful day. I went to the deep pool (does it have a name?) at dawn and fish were consistently rising till about 10.

Got one almost immediately on a zebra midge. Then nothing till I switched to a muddler minnow which rangled a few.

Admittedly, I am not a proficient top water guy, but tried a few really small tricos, and bwo's to no avail. Never saw another person till I went far upstream off the paved road, lol.

I was up at the flat brook this weekend too. Did very well yesterday with a caddis dry. Water level seemed a little better below where the little flat dumps in. It was a beautiful day to be out, a little breezy but I'm not complaining keeps it interesting.

That would be the one. The Flat only holds fish in deeper pools. Seldom will you find them in other water on that stream. Too many predators and not much hiding places for big fish to feel comfortable. A great river to fish during a hatch or on early mornings.

Only in low water like it is now. I've found some nice fish in some surprising spots.

I was up there on weds. Didn't have much luck. Only got one. But it was nice to get out.

If you can drift a nymph to any of the downed trees that litter this river, they are there!
