Life of an Itinerant Fly Fisher - Part One

Getting Ready for Trout Season 2011

Alright my fishing trip to the TULLY didn't work out as planned. However,
when I left the house the river was at 150 cfs, BWO's maybe were coming off,
WX report no rain...

So two hours later when I arrived at the TCO Fly Shop in Reading, PA,
after greeting me (didn't know me from Adam...Adam who I don't know)
Wes informed me that 15 minutes ago they started raising the water levels.

Later is settled in at 1,000 cfs. At that time I couldn't careless.

Looked at another river on my way home, which was high and sloppy.

So I stopped in to see how FLAT STANLEY made it through the winter,
no holes in the roof, no water damage.. Everything A-O-K.

Today Monday, just didn't feel like doing anything, last night I was talking
to my buddy about my upcoming Smoky Mountains trip next month, and
he reminded me in 2007 that the refrigerator before the trip went on the
blink and how I was scrambling to get it repaired days before the trip.

So, I took the day off and brought FLAT STANLEY home to set it up and run everything... run it a lot this year before the trip. So there will be no surprises.

To top it all off today......

In the mail from Perfect Fly Store arrive my Muddler Minnows.

I dislike tying them myself, but like fishing them so I am now
starting to purchase them. I bought them from many a different
fly shop over the years, but I like the ones from the Perfect Fly Store.

Also in the mail today... LL Bean's spring catalog.

What a great day it has turned out to be for me, got my MUDDLER's
that just ordered a few days ago, LL Bean catalog, reading the
Fly Fishing Smoky Mountains online daily article, all inside of FLAT STANLEY
in front of my house.

Fly Fishing the Great Smoky Mountains National Park

As the "other AK" (Best) would say, "Life is indeed!!! GOOD!"

had a solid mail day today too... got my new flex light so I dont have to have the annoying miners light tightly strapped to my head and got my kelly galloup streamers.

AK, this is a phenomenal post.

What can I say.

I hope you reconsider and join me on my April 2 trip.

Respectfully I submit, that if you join me, the trip will be a success.

Without you, it will fail.

Whatsayou?

GB:

You ever hear the term DOOMED TO FAILURE.... per se ?

GB... sorry there Buckaroo...

I have REAL PLANS.

In all honestly, I do hope you are able to make something out of your half baked idea.

... hummmm.....

Just responding to a post from within the comforts of FLAT STANLEY
I truly am a caring and compassionite person after all....

Alright I am over that.

Now Go F - Yourself GB.

... and the horse you rode in on.

Nothing wreaks of Americana like camping out in your driveway:)

Glad to hear Flat Stanley made it through another winter and is ready for another trout fishing season's travels. My latest Drake magazine arrived and I look forward to reading that tonight, but my new tenkara rod is still en route via UPS Ground apparently, so no nice surprise awaiting me when I got home from some meetings on the river today....

You made me laugh just when I needed it.

I just read a post by SIMMS on another thread, and I have to say honestly in the five years
I have been on here it was the second time someone truly made me angry.

Then I read yours Rusty and I am brought back to normal and .. even though you were making
fun of ME.... I still got a good chuckle out of it.

Ps

Just so we get our facts right, it is OUT IN THE STREET......

Yup, some wild $h*t going down tonight on the site. Figured you'd get a laugh out of that. :)

I just hope "Wally" made it through the winter as well as Flat Stanley. You'd be lost without that beacon to reckon you home at night after a long day fishing...
